Potato Vine Flowers #2

I wasn't intending it, but this one seems to have that impending tropical storm feeling. 5x7

Into the Light

SOLD
Every now and then I take a picture that just begs to be turned into a painting. I want to return to this spot to do some work from life, but until then this will do.

Scull's Bay Sunrise #4

SOLD
The camera insists on reading the orange reflection as darker in value...it's actually quite light. I just love going down to this spot to watch and paint the sunrise...it's very serene. 5x7

In Memorium

Here is an unfinished piece from the early 90s. It is of my Cat Owen. Owen died today. He was sixteen. He was named after the character Owen Meany from the John Irving novel " A prayer for Owen Meany " He was not much like Irving's character, but he was a Meany for sure. He will be missed.

Red Hat

My friend Karen agreed to sit for a spell while I painted her in this red hat. I cropped off the unfinished part at the bottom of the painting. I've spent many hours ( and dollars) doing life drawing sessions, I think it's time I got past my insecurities with figure painting. Karen has agreed to model in return for credits towards one of my paintings...a win win situation.

Beneath The Surface

An exhibit by the Signature Artist Members of the Noyes Musuem from now thru October. I like taking advantage of the Noyes ( pronounced noise ) to show some of my social commentary and less-then-happy paintings. This piece is a comment on alcoholism, a condition that is often kept beneath the surface. I felt that depicting a bottle under water also envokes the idea of drowning, the dead sea skate further enforcing the idea. The title: "Quicker" approx 17" x 28
...My camera is being sent back this week so the "Happier" paintings will resume in a few days!
