Happy Birthday Dad

Yesterday my father turned 71. For several years now I've been giving him these hand painted cards of the various fish he catches in his gill nets. He still fishes commercialy...I should be so healthy as Dear Old Dad! "Bunker" 5x7 watercolor card ( sepia )

Campsite Painting

The surrounding area had burned last year leaving charred pine trees and browned Palmetto leaves...very dramatic with dark clouds on the horizon. 8x10

Here I am finishing up.

Campsite at Jonathan Dickenson State Park

The RV looked so nice nestled in the pines and palmettos. This is our third year staying at Jonathan Dickenson State park outside of Jupiter Florida. It a wonderfully untamed yet peacefull area on the Loxahatchee river...filled with wild life. 5x7

Second day on Amelia Island: Live Oaks

I purchased a new and much better camera while I was away. The resulting images are so much closer to life then my old powershot. Fort Clinch State Park is covered with old twisty live oaks and spanish moss...so soft and beautiful. 8x10

Florida Camping Trip Results, Ten Plein Air Paintings!

Not all at once though! I'll post them in chronological order. I'd like to show the best first, but it took a few days to warm up ( painting skills and temperatures )
This 5x7 was my first piece after a four week hiatus from outdoor painting. I was rusty, but it felt great ...my first evening in warmer weather. The scene is from Amelia Island, just off the Florida, Georgia coast/border line...a beautiful place. I also did another version of this same scene the final night before returning to New Jersey...they make an interesting comparison.
