I'm getting ready to do the Plein Air Paint Out in Millville this Saturday, hopefully will have some paintings to post on Sunday. I'm quite nervous about the event as this will be my first such experience. It was just this time last year that I began painting out of doors. This piece was done yesterday afternoon..a perfect June day in Linwood, my flowers are thriving this year! 9x12

Dog Beach

Someone told me the real name of this little strip is Malibu Beach. It's known as dog beach to the locals...it's just about the only beach here in southern New Jersey that allows dogs. It's also the only beach around where I find the angel wing shells I use in my paintings. 8x10

Seashore Gardens Living Center in collaberation with the Noyes Museum hosted a Juried Art Show in celebration of Older Americans Month. My painting "March Storm Clearing" took the first place ribbon. Now I can buy my Judson's 9x12 pochade box in time for the plein air paint out in Millville next month. Yippee!!

There was a huge storm here yesterday when I started this under painting. I was also in much physical pain from the exertions of Mother's Day. I'm hoping this piece will be good enough for the "Beneath the Surface" Signature Artist show at the Noyes Museum this coming August. We shall see. 18x24

Virginia Blue Bell

In a protected corner of my garden this little flower blooms every spring. It doesn't really belong in New Jersey, but it's doing OK. It's a favorite because it reminds me of Virginia where I grew up. I shipped a painting down to Norfolk this week. I think I miss the south this time of year most of all. 5x7

A pretty day yesterday, but chilly. Green sprouts are showing under the old marsh grass. It won't be long until the wetlands have that vivid green carpeted glow of life.

Completed this a few days ago. A thank you to everyone who attended my opening reception yesterday at Atlantic Cape College. Four pieces sold and a splendid time was had by all. There should be an article about the show in the "Sentinal" sometime in the near future. Now back to my "New Stuff"

A Different View: Contemporary Still Lifes by Chuck Law

A reminder that my solo exhibit is now open in the Gallery at Atlantic Cape Community College. Reception is Sunday, April 13th at noon. All are welcome! I'm secretly calling this my Farewell Scatter Painting show. I'll still be doing some still life, but not like I was during the last 4 or 5 years. My love affair with pop art has cooled as my passion for plein air ( and architecture )has ignited! That said the paintings do look great at the gallery all together. Two have already sold!
