Patcong Creek Revisited

I love this's close to my home and has a nice protected little spot to sit and paint from. I think I'm ready to try a larger version of this. If so it will be my first large landscape in many many ( and I do mean many) years ! This one is 8x10

The weather has been day after day of rain and clouds this month. Caught some hazy color on my way to work this morning. I was a half hour late...but it was worth it!

The Days are Getting Longer: Update

A snow view of my home from last winter

A small commission, some more cards and a sympathy painting for a relative. Long days at the flower shop and overcast afternooons have made it impossible for me to photo what work I've been doing. Also prepping panels and buying tubes of oils ( the better stuff). I'm even trying to get a lot of my yard work finished early this year in anticipation of spending my winter and early spring days painting. And the best part...the days are getting longer!!

Here and There

I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I get really busy with the floral business this time of year, so the painting ( and the blog) suffer a bit. The weather has also been suffering lately. Here are two quick impressions of of late afternoon sunlight. I've been giving some serious thought on continuing my work with landscape. Such as putting more of my effort into plein air for at least one year. I'm also thinking about birds, figures and architecture within the landscape format. And for the still lifes? I won't abandon them completely, just adding more to the mix. I surely didn't realize three years ago just how limited my abilities were. I'm glad I know that now. I think for the new year the emphasis will be on learning how to better handle paint and how to better compose a picture!
